crucifix + roses band

18K crucifix + rose ring

Tiny figure of Jesus surrounded by ten roses; 18K gold. The ring measures only maybe 8-9mm in width, so that is one wee Jesus. This was an extremely challenging ring for me to carve, mostly because the figure is so incredibly tiny. I felt at times like my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head. I think it turned out really well. Human figures are really fun to carve, and I need to do more soon.

More pics after the jump!

I am not a religious person, and so I wasn’t quite sure where to start initially, but luckily over this past summer, I was in Europe and put myself on crucifix lookout (right?). And lo, had I come to the right place. Of the many zillion I spotted, I liked this one from a church in Olomouc, Czech Republic; I thought he looked kind of Pre-Raphaelite. I based my Jesus on him.

None of my photos really got a good angle on the face. I actually managed to get something of a face on him though.

This is one of the most interesting rings I have ever seen. Just in time for Easter! Bravo. Hope you didn’t get a migraine headache carving that teensy Jesus. Who is this for? A wedding band? A minister?

Will you be creating more figurative rings? Maybe mermaid with ocean background, or female figures, angels? I would be much more compelled to purchase art nouveau or pre raphaelite jewelry if they incorporate figures like Renee lalique. However this ring is very interesting with all the roses and a figure laying in them

I have made figures in the past–adam + eve solitaires & actually yes, a mermaid ring, and currently I’m working on a ring with a pair of lovers carved into each side of the band.

Yes would it be possible to see pictures of your Adam and Eve ring? And the two lovers? I am very interested in figurative jewelry and would love to see more of it. ☺️

Gosh, I don’t know why I am so in love with this ring. I think I really like the playful roses, and it has such a dimension to them.
