Frippin’ gorgeous little cape antique pear diamond set in a peacock feather ring designed just for it. 18K yellow gold.
The diamond has a very pale yellow color, which made for an overall warm glowy gold ring. Nice tall crown on this little guy too. I’m such a sucker for high crowns 🙂 Many more pics after the click:

This is a new ring I made recently that is quite different than most rings I make. I started with a signet ring concept with a chickadee & apple blossoms motif. 18K. Usually when I have carved intaglio style, it has been only a very small area here or there, or an inscription on the inside, etc. This time I had to really think about how the shape and texture of each indent looked as it would be front and center and a prominent part of the piece.

This is a ring I made for a Navy doctor stationed abroad. The design is a Rod of Asclepius on one side, a Caduceus on the other side, and on the bottom, an intaglio-carved oak leaf & acorn, the Navy Medical Corps insignia.
This leaf & acorn might be my favorite part of the ring!
Okay.. maybe it’s the stone. It’s an untreated Montana Sapphire that is a lovely teal blue in the outside light, but a cool green in indoor lighting. The cut is a unique angular cushion that I really liked.

This emerald was like a lovely drop of green jelly candy sitting on my bench. It was glowing and I felt like I could just eat it! But I didn’t, because I’m an adult.
I always say this, but man, it’s so hard to get BOTH a good photo of the metal and of the stone. One looks good or the other looks good, but never both. In this case, the emerald showed up a lot darker than it was in real life. But the gold part sure photographed nicely.
18K yellow gold, emerald cab of about 3 carats, and two bright little diamonds. Rococo styling based off of my Pearl solitaire.

22K + tourmaline solitaire
Have I ever mentioned how much I love these stones? These tourmalines from Paraiba, Brazil are just an incomparable color of aqua blue, like tropical shallows. Or maybe the inside of one of those ice caves. Something about this color has just an unreal glow to it. It’s also a color that really isn’t seen in any other gemstone. There are a couple minerals that have a similar color, but they are fairly soft, and just not suitable for most jewelry.
I carved a very minimal mounting for this stone, brought to me by the client, and cast it in this gorgeous contrasting buttery 22K. (More pics below..)
