my new shop opening!

Gin & Butterflies shop!

Hi everyone!

I wanted to announce the opening of my very own shop! I’m so excited!! Over the past few years, my business has transitioned to more fully custom designs and most clients have been finding me by word of mouth, google searches, Instagram, etc. It made sense to create a space to view and purchase my work that was not through Etsy.

Does this actually change anything in the way my business works?

Meh, not really. I’ll continue to communicate via email (or phone if you prefer) to answer all questions, get you quotes, sketches, etc. for the piece you are contemplating. I’ll accept as payment the usual paypal & credit card. Now, however, I’ll have the ability to set up your custom listing in my own shop that will contain all the information about your custom piece in one place.

One thing that will change is that the prices through my own shop will be a little less than my Etsy prices for the same pieces, as I don’t have Etsy commissions to cover.

I will continue to leave my Etsy shop open. Many people find me here, have links here, or are more familiar and comfortable with the Etsy platform, etc. There are little pieces of me all over the internet basically!

New Things

  •  Review/Feedback page: Previously, I never had a singular place to leave feedback for my off-Etsy clients. I made a review-specific page where people for whom I have made jewelry may now leave feedback (hopefully soon I can make it so you can upload an image too). Have I made you a piece before? I’d LOVE it if you left me a review! YAY!
  • Shop Policies & Information page for the fine print. Here’s the link.
  • Detailed description of how my ordering process works. (Spoiler: same as before for the most part 🙂 But I do function differently from your average online shop because most of my pieces are not already-made items. I make most things custom to fit and to your metal and stone preferences. Here’s that link.

ATTN: Custom Design Clients!

Custom-carved jewelry

Hello!

I’m headed *very* soon to the Tucson Gem Show, where I will have the opportunity to purchase special and unusual stones for custom pieces. I have a number of you on my to-shop-for list, but I feel like I am forgetting someone! Please check in with me if you have not corresponded with me very recently regarding shopping @ the gem show for your piece.

If you are a new client and are interested in having a piece made using something unusual (unique rose-cut diamonds, colored stones, pearl, etc.), now is a really good time to get things cooking. I do have a lot of contacts for many of the stones I use, but nothing beats me being able to see everything at once in person and pick individual stones out of thousands.

Contact me at my email address: cheyenneweil@gmail.com and we’ll talk!

!! Notice for upcoming orders !!

Hand-carved rings in gold and platinum

Great Scott: The holiday season is here already.

Just a quick reminder that I’ll be accepting orders up until 2nd week November IF you are looking for a by-Christmas delivery date. Get it in now!!—the sooner you do, the less stressed I will be 🙂

I’ll of course also be accepting new orders after this date, I’ll just plan to ship after the new year. I usually take a couple of weeks off around the holidays, so just add a 2-3 weeks to my normal work time. I.e., instead of a normal 5-ish weeks to deliver, it’ll be more like 7-8.

stones for custom pieces!

red-pink-orange rose-cut diamonds

I have, over the years, accumulated a handful of stones that would love to find a home in some sort of custom awesomeness. The above trio are some sweet red and orange translucent rose-cut diamonds. (More details & photos of these below.)

Ethiopian opal in snake ring

I could not pass this flashy Ethiopian opal up when it called out to me from the sidelines of the Tucson gem show. I think it would work nicely in my snake cocktail ring, or perhaps you have another idea?

tucson gem show 2017

Yet another Tucson gem show in the bag. I got a bunch of things. Some I needed for current projects, some I needed only to make my monkey brain happy.

The above is some giant beautiful emerald rough. It wasn’t for sale, but rather just for show (it would then be cut into the finished stones that were for sale).

aurochs_skeleton

There was also a lot of this! This is a large proto-cow. (Aurochs maybe?) I thought he had a nice expression on his face. He may have been a she though, and she might actually have been really pissed when she died. But her fossilized skull looks quite chipper. Funny how that works.

Announcement: Christmas 2016 deadline!

Custom carved pile of 18K diamond Tahitian pearl rings

Hi all! That time of the year has crept up once more and I want to let everyone know that I’ll be accepting new orders up to the second week of November (Nov. 9th) IF you would like a by-Christmas delivery. Otherwise, I’ll be taking the usual couple of weeks off from mid/late December to after the new year and if you are not particular about when your rings are ready, new orders may be accepted at any time. Just allow a little extra time for me to complete your pieces. My email address is: cheyenneweil@gmail.com if you have any questions about a piece, and if you would really like to do your research, here’s the FAQ!

Thanks again for an excellent year filled with interesting and amazing custom pieces!

christmas deadline!

Hello all! As per usual, I plan to finish up all orders for a safe by-Christmas shipment around the 15th December. In order for me to have enough time to complete your rings, I’ll need to have any incoming orders finalized in the next week. I’ll be taking a couple of weeks off around Christmas to the new year, and then I’ll be back up and running.

I nearly forgot to get this posted, as it feels like Christmas is AGES away still, but yesterday afternoon I was in the local Fred Meyer grocery store, and not only did they have twinkling Christmas tree displays with spangly ornaments for sale, they had a whole section devoted to impulse buy stocking stuffers. It was a little horrifying. I noticed egg nog went on the shelves easily two weeks ago too. Didn’t that stuff never come out until mere days before Thanksgiving? I can tell I’m going to be an excellent old person, ranting about how things used to be in ye olde times.

christmas 2014 order deadline: Nov. 19th

14K mistletoe wedding band w/diamonds

Hi everyone! It’s that time of year again, and I’ve been out of town so much, it really sneaked up on me. I’ll be shipping up until Dec 18th in order to ensure a by-Christmas delivery. Since I run about a month construction time for your rings, please get any orders you would like by Christmas in as soon as you possibly can. I would like to have everything set by mid next week (let’s say the 19th at the latest).

spring/summer schedule announcement

Tulip brooch - sterling silver

I am going to be out of the studio from mid-June to late July. With my current workload (extremely high! Yikes!), I’m running about 5-6 weeks to deliver on orders. I think that a deadline order date of May 9th will ensure a mid-June delivery without too much insanity on my part. And of course, I’ll be back up and running by the end of July and taking orders as per usual.

Hope everyone is having a great spring so far! My plants are all coming up and it’s so bleeding exciting. My tulips multiplied underground and are awesome this year.

holiday vacation info

Jenny & the Cat Club ornaments

As usual, I’ll be taking a couple of weeks off from mid-December (or thereabouts) to early January. I’ll be shipping up until then for packages to arrive by christmas, but I’ll be needing all orders in by this week! (I.e., by Nov. 15th.) Otherwise, I’ll be back up and running in early January 2014!

[Jenny & the Cat Club ornaments in paper mache. We make new ornaments for the tree every year (as we had never done a tree before having a kid) and these were last year’s batch. ps: if you have a five-ish year old child, I highly recommend the ‘Jenny & the Cat Club’ books; sweet stories, great illustrations.]
