Uncle Bill got married! And I got to make the wedding bands!! Bill has spent a large portion of his life in and around water and on sailboats, trimarans mostly. Nimble little trimarans. So we of course went with a watery theme for both bands, ocean swells around two palladium bands. On Bill’s band I added a tiny trimaran. For Francine’s ring, we added a second contrasting 18K yellow band with delicate hammering.
my rings are in a bridal magazine!
Ooh la la! I really need to shake my photography paradigm up a bit; I love the way the photographer staged the photo with the heart-shaped leaf.
So yeah! I got an email from a couple I made some rings for and their friend put together a wedding spread for the magazine Weddings Unveiled and she put my rings in it! I’m in the current (Winter 2013) issue, pages 90-93. I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t bother to credit the brilliant genius who made the rings (cough cough) but I suppose it’s made up for by the fact that that the rings are at least in a tasteful, nay, downright awesome spread.
You can see the full set of photos from the shoot here. Pretty gorgeous; I rather love the raw edges of the wedding dress.
poppies and rubies!
This was a ring designed for an amazing oval diamond and two bright little side rubies. 18K yellow gold.

large blooming rose solitaire
It was inevitable that a larger version of my blooming rose solitaire would need to be made and I’m liking the results! This one with an ~.85ct diamond and in 14K white gold.

modern wedding bands with sapphires
scattered ginkgo and diamond band
This ring started out as a simple solitaire with a central diamond and a couple of ginkgo leaves on either side, then morphed into this awesomeness. 14K white gold and diamonds.

nov. 12th deadline for custom christmas orders
This time of the year always sneaks up on me. I got online this morning feeling all smug like I was waaay ahead of schedule to post my deadline and then I looked carefully at the calender. Yes, so, in fact, my deadline needs to be in less than a week! GAH! Sorry everyone!
I will aim for final shipments to go out by 17th December for arrival by the 25th. Otherwise, I’ll be off the usual holiday/New Year days but working again through January. I’m planning on taking a month-long vacation though in February-March (dates not locked down yet). Please send me an email with any questions.
Thank you!!
david & aurora’s solar bands
More AWESOMENESS, I mean, space jewelry! You might remember the spacey rings, then the moon bands of yesteryear.. Well, in continuation of the celestial theme, I present: Solar Surface Wedding Bands!
He is a software engineer at a solar power plant company and she is a theoretical physicist graduate student studying models that predict the behavior of plasmas at surface temperatures of the sun. They were intrigued with the lunar landscape bands and were wondering how it might work to have solar landscape bands.
This was a lot more abstract of a concept than the lunar map rings, since the surface of the sun is constantly in flux. On the other hand, I had a lot of material to pull from. I really love how these turned out!

[Photo graciously permitted by Alan Friedman; I highly recommend checking out his website—some amazing photos here.]
Once again, I mined the internets for inspirational sun images. It kind of blows my mind that such detailed photos of the sun can even be taken.
I tried to capture the effect of the sun’s surface with the roiling feathery parts vs the granular bits, with sun spots and hot spots. The rings were cast in 18K gold and included little yellow diamonds at the hot spots.
Basically, the rings I carved would totally waste our satellites and toast our electrical grid.
