This was a commission from a husband to his wife who was about to complete the full northbound Appalachian Trail hike. That’s 2190.9 miles, ya’ll! I was super impressed. I’d love to do an epic hike like this someday.
Continue readingHave I ever mentioned how much I love these stones? These tourmalines from Paraiba, Brazil are just an incomparable color of aqua blue, like tropical shallows. Or maybe the inside of one of those ice caves. Something about this color has just an unreal glow to it. It’s also a color that really isn’t seen in any other gemstone. There are a couple minerals that have a similar color, but they are fairly soft, and just not suitable for most jewelry.
I carved a very minimal mounting for this stone, brought to me by the client, and cast it in this gorgeous contrasting buttery 22K. (More pics below..)

Continue readingThis ring is probably the most insane ring I’ve carved yet—and I mean that in the best way possible. It is in rose gold with a D/VS2 trillion-cut diamond. I made it last year and I can’t believe I forgot to post it already; just had the draft sitting in my box all ready to go..
One side.. And the other below:

I love seeing the photos my customers send me! Even if it does drive home the fact that my backgrounds are awfully boring 🙂 This photo was just sent to me of the Crowned Pear/Man & Woman solitaire with the new Dragon Scale band, which I was so happy to see since I made them and shipped them at different times, so never got a together-photo myself.
Dragon scales with a peridot & an emerald, the couple’s birthstones.
This solitaire is off the rails, set with a giant gorgeous 12x9mm Old Mine Cut glitter-bomb of a moissanite.
The design is Japanese peach blossoms with a couple little honeybees scattered here and there. We wanted to keep the setting as open as possible, yet have the solitaire frame be substantial enough to securely hold such a large stone. A strong, delicate type, let’s say.

This ring was such a joy to carve! This ring began as a design doodle that I never got around to really bringing to reality. Then I had thee perfect opportunity when a client brought me this gorgeous mabe pearl from the Sea of Cortez, and a juicy ruby to boot. And, she said, she would like to design something with seahorses! It was a perfect set-up for this ring and I think it turned out magnificently.
