Epic Preening Swans ring! 18K gold with a bit over 5 carats of steely gray rose-cut diamonds. Hard to tell in my still photos, but rose-cut diamonds like these are total glitter-bombs.
I took about a billion photos of this one, including a bunch of it as I carved. Click the extended link for the full montage: Continue reading
This ring is the result of a collaboration with the lovely Shan Adams! The design is a reproduction of an antique Victorian double-snake ring, and the one pictured is the first we made using a client’s gorgeous rose-cut diamond. I carved the shank part of the ring & Shan, who specializes in Georgian-style cut-down collet settings, does the mounting.
We can make these custom with your choice of stone & metal; just send me an email (cheyenneweil@gmail.com) and I’ll get you the details.

Custom geometric solitaire carved for this fat 2+ carat cushion (7.5mm diameter roughly). Palladium 950.
Everything went really well when making this ring: I feel like my carving turned out very precisely, the casting went perfectly, finishing went very well (I finally found some new polishing stuff that works WAY better with palladium that the compounds I was using previously—more steps, but less tedium and burned fingers!), I was a little stressed about setting such a large non-round stone, but even that went extremely smoothly. My client was a total sweetheart too!
I’d say I was just damned happy with pretty much everything about this ring! Many more pics after the click: Continue reading
18K yellow gold and diamonds!
For this one, we went with a gorgeous old silky Burmese Ruby and upped the size of the side diamonds by a smidge. 18K yellow here too.
This version is using a full 1/2 carat diamond (a little larger than the original design, which is more like 1/4ct). I adjusted the leaf shapes & sizes a little to make sure the larger stone looked right in the setting. This one is 14K white gold
Here’s one with all emeralds. I’m sorry the side emeralds photographed so dark in my photos; they were nicely matched with the center stone in actuality. 18K yellow gold again.
Hi all!! Gemfix.com (an awesome gem cutter) is having a design contest for pieces using their stones and I entered my Calla Lily ring, which features an .88ct Montana Sapphire. Please go vote (for me!!)!
Go HERE for the gallery of pieces in the contest. You get one vote only.
Unfortunately, my photo does not do justice to this stone; in order to get a decent pic of the metal without too much reflection, the stone can suffer. However, I did get a kick-ass video of the stone outside in my garden; it’s well worth checking out how vibrantly different the stone looks compared to my studio lightbox..
Couple more photos below of the ring. Continue reading
I finally got to make an orchid ring! I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner. Here I carved a sprig of phalaenopsis across the top, 14K rose gold.

I was invited to participate in a photoshoot! I’ve never done one before, so all the action was super interesting for me. The videos were shot & assembled by Glitch Films.
The behind-the-scenes video is also really cool:

I’m even in it! I feel he captured my natural flailiness quite well.
