New Snake Cocktail Ring to add to my family, this time with a lovely shiller-y sunstone, Old European cut diamond accent, and rose gold. I hadn’t done a sunstone before, and I’m liking it!

Continue readingThis is a new ring I made recently that is quite different than most rings I make. I started with a signet ring concept with a chickadee & apple blossoms motif. 18K. Usually when I have carved intaglio style, it has been only a very small area here or there, or an inscription on the inside, etc. This time I had to really think about how the shape and texture of each indent looked as it would be front and center and a prominent part of the piece.
Continue readingThis is a ring I made for a Navy doctor stationed abroad. The design is a Rod of Asclepius on one side, a Caduceus on the other side, and on the bottom, an intaglio-carved oak leaf & acorn, the Navy Medical Corps insignia.
This leaf & acorn might be my favorite part of the ring!
Okay.. maybe it’s the stone. It’s an untreated Montana Sapphire that is a lovely teal blue in the outside light, but a cool green in indoor lighting. The cut is a unique angular cushion that I really liked.
Continue readingThis emerald was like a lovely drop of green jelly candy sitting on my bench. It was glowing and I felt like I could just eat it! But I didn’t, because I’m an adult.
I always say this, but man, it’s so hard to get BOTH a good photo of the metal and of the stone. One looks good or the other looks good, but never both. In this case, the emerald showed up a lot darker than it was in real life. But the gold part sure photographed nicely.
18K yellow gold, emerald cab of about 3 carats, and two bright little diamonds. Rococo styling based off of my Pearl solitaire.
Continue readingThis ring turned out so nicely! It is done with a Rococo style in mind: seashell & swirling gold waves and a nice D-G/VS diamond in the center. Very mermaidy!
Continue readingDoes that mean that it’s now spring? The plum trees around here think so.
Some springy images from last year’s photoshoot. More info & pretty pics after the click:
Have I ever mentioned how much I love these stones? These tourmalines from Paraiba, Brazil are just an incomparable color of aqua blue, like tropical shallows. Or maybe the inside of one of those ice caves. Something about this color has just an unreal glow to it. It’s also a color that really isn’t seen in any other gemstone. There are a couple minerals that have a similar color, but they are fairly soft, and just not suitable for most jewelry.
I carved a very minimal mounting for this stone, brought to me by the client, and cast it in this gorgeous contrasting buttery 22K. (More pics below..)

Continue readingThis ring is probably the most insane ring I’ve carved yet—and I mean that in the best way possible. It is in rose gold with a D/VS2 trillion-cut diamond. I made it last year and I can’t believe I forgot to post it already; just had the draft sitting in my box all ready to go..
One side.. And the other below:

I love seeing the photos my customers send me! Even if it does drive home the fact that my backgrounds are awfully boring 🙂 This photo was just sent to me of the Crowned Pear/Man & Woman solitaire with the new Dragon Scale band, which I was so happy to see since I made them and shipped them at different times, so never got a together-photo myself.
Dragon scales with a peridot & an emerald, the couple’s birthstones.
